DIY Face Serum

Along my journey of transitioning to all natural skincare, I started researching about making a face serum. A face serum is similar to a moisturizer. A face serum penetrates deeper to the skin to decrease your pores, restore skin cells, and improve the appearance of your skin. I chose to make my face serum with coconut oil, hemp seed oil, and the following essential oils: lavender, frankincense, sandalwood, tea tree, and cedar wood. I also added some vitamin E serum (not pictured).

I have talked a lot about the benefits of hemp seed oil and some of the essential oils, but I will post a little about each. The face serum consists of hemp seed oil, coconut oil, and then 5 drops of each oil. Hemp seed oil is a great moisturizer and great for fighting acne. Coconut oil is also a great moisturizer. Lavender and Frankincense oil helps with acne, dry skin, wrinkles, and dark circles. Sandalwood oil is anti-aging, and helps with dark circles. Lastly, Tea Tree and Cedarwood oil are acne-fighting oils.

Feel free to add your own favorite face oils to your face serum. I picked some of my favorites. I love this face serum! I am new to using a face serum, so I wasn’t sure when/how to use it. I usually use the face serum at night before bed. Here is my nightly skincare routine:

  1. Face wash/cleanse
  2. Facial toner
  3. Face serum
  4. My roller acne-blend
  5. Moisturizer

If you have never used a face serum before, then I encourage you to make one or go buy one that fits your skin type. You won’t regret it!
