Healthy Snacking

I take food very seriously. If I do not have food in my system, then I am the definition of “hangry.” While working 8 hours a day, I tend to snack a lot throughout the day. There are some days where I don’t even have time to sit down and eat. It is so much easier to just swipe my card in the vending machine and grab a bag of chips + candy. But I promise you, the healthy snacks are worth the time!

I have tried the whole meal-prep thing, and I really, really, really wish it worked for me. However, I have started meal-prepping my snacks (baby steps). By meal-prepping, I mean prepping it the night before, lol. I go to the grocery and I get a variety of healthy snacks that last me 2-3 weeks. Throughout the week, I prep my snacks the night before work. I tend to lean towards snacks that are high in protein.

Here are some of my favorite healthy snack ideas:

  • Apple + caramel or peanut butter
  • Banana + peanut butter
  • Greek Yogurt + granola
  • Hummus + pretzels or cucumbers
  • Spinach artichoke dip (from King Soopers) + pretzels
  • Cheese cubes + grapes
  • Hard boiled eggs
  • Pea snaps + ranch
  • Chicken salad
  • String cheese
  • Nuts: pistachios, cashews, or peanuts
  • Cottage cheese + blackberries
  • Rice cakes + peanut butter
  • Rice cake +marinara + mozzarella cheese
  • Strawberries + dark chocolate
  • Celery +almond butter
Cheese cubes, grapes, apple + caramel, hummus, cucumbers
Hard-boiled eggs + salt + pepper
